Mummy’s Birthday Dinner

It was a early birthday dinner for my mummy as next week would be a very busy and chaotic week as school would be starting, thus we decided to have this birthday dinner today.

Actually I have been having hearing rave comments about this Japanese Teppanyaki at Jurong Hill Top since many years ago. I have long wanted to give it a try but because of the ‘Ulu’ location, I tend to give it a miss time after time. Ok.. back to the restaurant… Jurong Hill Top restaurant, as what the name suggests.. is located on top of Jurong Hill, right above the Jurong Bird Park and overlooks the entire Tuas/ Jurong Island. For this restaurant it has 3 sections: Teppanyaki, Japanese and Indonesian and of course our main intention here is TEPPANYAKI!  We were lucky to booked a private function room just for the 9 of us, so I don’t have to worry about my playful boys disturbing other diners.

The menu was very simple and straightforward.. no fanciful names. And I like it, cos it make our ordering process so much simpler. So We ordered Terriyaki chicken, Salmon with sauce, grilled pork loin, fresh mushroom, California Maki and garlic rice. The sauce. Our Salad appetizer.Customers would sit around the Teppanyaki table, wearing little orange aprons (above is a example of our little model.. wearing the apron) so that customers will be stain-free. Put aside we did look a little ridiculous with the aprons on :P I think it is really thoughtful of the restaurant boss to think of this. California MakiThe best buddy for today is none other than Jayden and Gladys. They seems to have so much to talk and laugh about throughout the meal. Our chief for today.Must have is the salmon they cook in the foil with the sauce. The salmon is very fresh, juicy and tender.Grilled pork loin and bean sprouts. Well I find the grilled pork loin ok, but I love the bean sprouts. The Terriyaki chicken is delicious, even my boys love it!Garlic rice was fragrant and it is really yummy!!!Our dessert – Mango PuddingWhile the kids have ice cream Overall, the food were not bad, the service is very good, and a good experience of a chief cooking in front of us (the kids were so excited to see the chief cooking) and most of all the price are very reasonable. And what’s more there's complimentary dessert after (and quite a selection to choose from)… The downside is that you will smell like the kitchen but it's actually a nice experience once in a while.

After the very full meal, you can take a walk above the restaurant which overlooks Jurong Island. However it was already very dark when we left, so we decided to give this nice night scenery a miss.

  1. My ex-office's manager or senior always like to bring us there for special occasion or some dept celebration.

Me and hubs also used to go there for our 'special' occasions. Used to Love the food there, dunno now still as good or not, but very pricey for our time then, will usually cost about SGD70plus for 2 pax, consider very expensive then!
