“Beautiful Plants” Project work

This term, Javier learns about plants. As part of the plant theme, he took back the seeds he planted in school for  us to observe daily. He was pretty excited with the growth of his seed!!!! Open-mouthed smileThe first thing he did everyday is to run to his plant to check for the “progress”.

Learning Parts of fish

I introduce parts of fish to Javier and also as a revision for Jayden. I make a simple fish from felt cloth and printed some word labels for our learning. (but left out the tail, thus added in a handwritten one for that label)

Salt water experiment

To go with our learning for this month, I wanted to do a experiment with them to show that it’s easier to float in salt water rather than plain water. Which is due to the salt water can hold up more than plain water.
Try this experiment to see for yourself.  You'll need:

  • 2 clear, wide mouth containers
  • warm water
  • 1 cup salt
  • we use egg, lime

Magnify!!!

I introduced Magnifying glass to my boys today by doing the following activity. I let them use the magnifying glass to enlarge the tiny pictures and then match them to the larger pictures. This is an easy way to show them how magnifying glass work! I printed the magnifying pictures from here.

Learning Parts of Birds

Since we are doing Theme learning on Birds, I also include learning of the parts of birds as part of our Bird Theme learning. I think this is a great method as I realized that my boys were able to learning very well from this method. Normally I will paste this list for the parts of birds on the wall for about 1 month and revised with them as and when we like.

Sink or Float

I have been wanting to do this experiment with my boys for a very long time. But plain laziness of me delay the plan again and again… Until I saw the photos posted in the Facebook of my nieces doing it and enjoying it so much… that I make myself promise to do it with my boys soon.

First, I explain what is float and sink.. and why….

Learning Parts of Tree

I thought it would be more fun to do some activities with the boys to introduce them to parts of a tree. I got the idea of doing of “Parts of Trees” booklet from here.

I prepare 2 "Parts of Trees" booklet activity for them to do with one set of control card for reference. You can see it set up in the photos below.

These are the materials which I have prepared.
