Learning to write letters

Despite that Javier can trace well, he still can’t write well without the dotted line to guide him. Thus few days ago, I started spending time with him to teach him how to write lowercase letters (which I think is much more important and difficult as compared to uppercase).

After a few session with him, he can now write a,b,c and d quite well.

He would trace the letter first, follow by practicing to write on a blank paper. It was quite tough in the beginning when he was learning to write a, but once he knows how to write a, writing b, d, g, p, q would be easy for him.

Alphabet Match Book

Javier likes to follow Jayden to his taekwondo lesson despite that I kept asking him to stay at home to read books, play toys or do activity with him. But he is rather adamant about his decision and insist on going with Jayden. Perhaps he love the freedom to run about or play the playground with other kids if he go there.

We went fishing!!!

This activity is mainly for the revision of the words or numbers that Javier had learnt recently.I printed many fishes from various colour paper and spent some time cutting all of it. :P and Jayden was very helpful to insert the paper clips to all the fishes for me this afternoon. :D

Javier was so excited when he saw the fishing rod with all the fishes and couldn’t wait to start fishing.

ABC – Missing Letters

We did a simple worksheet, spotting the missing letters. He can do most of it but needed a little help in the missing “U”. :D

I printed the worksheet here. There is a wide collection of other ABC order worksheets in the website.

Wooden Puzzle

A very simple wooden puzzle for Javier to practice the alphabet sequence and the order of numbers. Although he can recognize the letters and numbers very well now, but he still has problem putting them in sequence. He likes to play with this puzzle, but since he doesn’t know the sequence well, I got to play with him. If not, he would be busy throwing the pieces around instead of joining it togather. :P The wooden puzzle consisting of a crocodile and snake.

Magnetic Alphabet Activity

This activity is one of the boys favourite. I have draw outline of the letters on a drawing paper, Javier like to put the magnetic alphabet on it. Recently I make use of this magnetic alphabet to teach Javier words.

Learning colour in mandarin

Since we are on the theme of Rainbow for these 2 weeks. I introduced some Chinese word for colour to Javier. Beside that, we also did some hand stamping on the different colour sheet. After stamping a few colours, he refused to lend me his hand anymore. :P So I just painted the colour on the colour sheet while he looked on.P1050287 After showing him the word cards for a few times, he was able to pick out the right card (most of the time) for the individual colour sheet when I presented him with 2 word cards to choose.
