Books Read in May - Javier
We borrowed a number of books with story related to bird for this month, mainly due to we are doing a Lapbook on Bird.
I’m sure the author of the first 3 books is no stranger to most. These were a hit with Javier, he wants me to read it to him every night. He could almost read it with me by memory.

Bento #8 – Beep Beep
Recently, Javier is crazy about this book which I borrowed from the library. This book teaches pattern sequencing which I think would be good for Javier. He felt in love with the cars in the book and kept asking me to buy the yellow, red and blue cars for him.
So I decided to make a Car Bento for them for dinner. Well, sadly to say, the meal time for today did not go as well as planned, but at least he managed to eat all the food which include the grapes. ** Bravo** since he is not a fruit lover, I was so happy to see him finished all the grapes. (I guess sometime I need to be harsh to him when it comes to eating. At least after I talked to him sternly, he will be more willing to eat his main meal. If I just let him be, he will only be eating plain rice for his every meal. :( )

Books that Javier read - November
Well, some of the books here are chosen by Javier. As you know, Javier is so crazy about animals, any books which have elephant, giraffe or rhino would definitely be a hit with him. So it is no wonder most of the books he choose would be animals related.

Books that Javier read - October
We borrowed quite a number of books this month. But these are the few that caught Javier’s attention. To make our reading session more fun, I would ask him some questions as I read the book.
And one thing I realised is that when I have read books (which interest him) to him for a few times, I realised that he can memorize the story. (I get to know this because one fine day, I was reading “The very hungry caterpillar to him”, unintentionally I just read and stop at one part of a sentence, and he continue to read out the rest of the sentence based on his memory, and I also realised that he had a already memorise the whole book – “The very hungry caterpillar” by heart)
Thus from that time onwards, I would purposely stop halfway of the sentence and let him continue when we read books togather.

Books that Javier read - September
With my continuous effort to read to Javier, I am glad to see results now. He is almost back to ‘his love for reading books’ now. My boys love going to the library, as they can choose the books that they want to borrow. Among the books which I have borrowed, currently his love are these 3 books.
2 of the books are from the author Ruth Krauss. I like these books for its simplicity. The story is short as the words used to write the story, and will help children learn to read. After reading these books for almost 1 month, Javier is able to read by memory. I don’t think he can recognize the word yet, thus I feel that he is able to read it by looking at the pictures and memorizing the words which I have repeatedly read.
