Books read in June - Javier

june

Bug Dance by Stuart J. MurphyIt has a gym class of bugs trying to dance and move in the right ways. The centipede tries his hardest and ultimately succeeds at performing the dance even if one of his classmates is a little mean about the whole ordeal.

We had a fun time reading this book and by following the steps in the book, we dance along.

The Best Bug Parade by Stuart J. Murphy This is a great book to teach size relationships as well as some basic reading words. The illustrations are great. Example as follow:

Big, bigger, biggest
Small, smaller, smallest
Long, longer, longest.
Short, shorter, shortest.
Good, Better, Best.

But I find the story to be too short and little tat boring to my liking. Thus we did not really enjoy reading this book much.

Moo, Baa, La La La! by Sandra Boynton This book is chosen by Javier strictly due to the book cover… He LOVE animals. Well, at least this is a very funny book to read. He had fun making the noises make by the animals too.

Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh

One day three white mice discover three jars of paint--red, blue, and yellow. The (almost) repetitive, simple text has each mouse "dance and swirl" and make a new color, which the mice announce with amazement- "Look, red feet in a blue puddle makes purple!"

This book explores primary colors, color mixtures, and contrast, it’s great for preschooler learning colours.

Mrs Wishy-Washy makes a Splash by Joy Cowley

We love Mrs Wishy Washy since we first read of the book 2 months ago.  This is an excellent book for toddlers to enjoy. Mrs. Wishy-Washy and her animals are fun characters that little ones will find humorous.

You and Me: We’re Opposites by Harriet ZiefertAgain this book was chosen by Javier strictly due to the elephant on the cover. But after reading it, I find that this book is great for teaching opposite. Javier is good in it now after reading this book umpteen of times.

The story of little Babaji by Helen Bannerman Read more about this book here.

Time for Bed, Little Tiger! by Julie Sykes The book is very much about our bed time routine. The Mommy tiger has to chase her little tiger about for bed. One more drink, one more story, hey, little sister isn't in bed yet! are all very familiar to most parents. :D

我会看时钟A cute book for revising clock reading with my boys.

Beside the above books, we also read the 当当猫 and 鼠小弟. My boys simply loves the books of humorous books from these 2 series.
