Books read in June - Jayden

june

Mister Seahorse by Eric Carlemister seahorseMr. Seahorse carries eggs in his pouch and passes time visiting other Seafaring/living daddies. Beautiful acetone pages teach little readers about the plants underwater and how the fish creatively camouflage themselves to stay safe.

Mr. Grumpy’s Outing by John Burningham mr grumpy's outingA cute and simple story which tells that One fine morning Mr. Gumpy decides it's a perfect day for an outing in his little boat. Apparently, plenty of others think so, too. First some children ask to join him, then a rabbit, a cat, a dog, a pig, a sheep... Soon, Mr. Gumpy's boat is precariously full, and there's nowhere for anyone else to go--but overboard!

Paddington and the disappearing sandwich by Michael Bond paddingtonThis book is good in teaching shapes.  When Paddington Bear goes to town looking for different shapes, he soon discovers that some are much longer-lasting than others! especially if they happen to be very tasty! We had a fun time identifying the shaped we learnt with everyone's favourite bear, Paddington!

The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seussthe cat in the atI’m sure most would not be stranger to this book, but Jayden simply loves this rhyming storyline although the story doesn’t make sense to me at all. I don’t like Dr Seuss book, but its good for beginner reader to read due to its rhyming words.

The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carlethe grouchy ladybugWe love Eric Carle book since we lay our eyes on “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. This is a good book for kids just starting to learn how to read clock…

The grouchy ladybug is mean to all the other insects that he meets. He does not want to share the aphids on his leaf with the friendly ladybug. He ends up making no friends at all, and the animals he is rude to are getting bigger and fiercer as the book goes on. In the end the grouchy ladybug ends up on the same leaf he started out on, and shares the aphids.

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldsonthe snail and the whaleThis book was chosen by Jayden, actually the loves books by this author. The story is wonderful, it shows how even if your different you can get along and help one another. It also teaches that it doesn't matter what size you are , you can make a difference.

The story of little Babaji by Helen Bannermanthe story of little babaji

Since we are on the theme of Tiger for this month, I borrowed this tiger related book to go with our tiger theme home learning.

The artwork is fanciful, detailed, and hilariously funny. You have to laugh when you see the big eyed tiger wearing those oh so special Purple Shoes With Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings.

I also borrowed these 2 books for his Chinese reading from the library.
