Letter C (Lesson 6)

We have a short lesson on letter C today. First we start with colouring of letter C and tracing.

Colouring and Tracing Letter C

Cutting and Pasting
For this picture, I hold Javier hand to teach him how to use a sicissor to cut the paper.

I gave him some plain paper to practice his cutting, it was not easy for him as he still can't hold the sicissor properly. But with some practices, Javier is able to do the cutting quite well.
This picture was cut by Javier. I told him to follow the line and cut apart the pictures. As he is cutting, I would give him some guidance. He did a really great job for his "First Cutting".
Storytime
We read a story "Alice the Fairy".This is a very cute book, its about a little girl named Alice who is a fairy in training and all the spells she can cast like making herself disappear, change her dad into a horse and turn cookies meant for her dad into her own. Me and Jayden really enjoyed this book alot, as for Javier he is not too keen in this story.
We saw this really nice crown in the story which Alice make for her dad. So we decided to do a craft on crown today.
Our crown is ready.
My little prince wearing his crown.
Of course, Jayden make 1 crown for himself too!!!
We end the activity with the boys wearing and playing with the crown. :)

Letter C (Lesson 5)

Our lesson C today is closely related to 'clown'. We started the first activity doing a clown craft. I like this craft, cos beside letting the kids know what is clown, it also teaches the different type of shapes that make up the face of the clown.

I only apply glue on the spot for pasting. Javier would pick up the shape and match it on the clown face and paste it himself. I printed the craft from here.

The smiley clown done by Javier. Jayden also joined us in this activity as we have our lesson in the morning.

Counting
I teach Javier about numbers of balloons the clown is holding. Beside learning numbers, I also let Javier colour the clown.
Tracing Letter C
After guiding Javier to trace the letter C, I let him do some colouring on his own while I prepare the items for the next activity. He seems to be in a mood of colouring today, whichever worksheet I passed to him, he would colour which is quite rare. Normally he doesn't enjoyed colouring that much.

Size sorting
I show the boys how to sort the coins from the smallest to the biggest size. It is too easy for Jayden whereas for Javier I need to guide him.
Capsicums Stamping
Our last activity for today is capsicum stamping. Javier is such a dear boy today. I left him to do the stamping himself while I coached jayden is his study. He did a great job in the stamping and he did not mess up the area at all. When he is finished with the stamping, he just called out to me to take a look at his work and ask me to keep away the stuffs.
The finished work of the capsicum stamping done by Javier.
Storytime
We also read a book ' A colour of his own' by Leo Lionni
It is a story about a chameleon who hope to search for a "color of his own." This delightful board book captures babies attention with simple content and colorful illustration. Both my boys like this book alot.

Letter C (Lesson 4)

Our Lesson for today would be C for 'Car'.

Letter Tracing

We started with the letter C tracing and colouring of the car.
Halfway through his colouring, he decided to exclaimed a 'Yahhhh'. What a funny little boy!!!!

Car Craft
I cut our the pieces for him to paste. Before letting him paste the wheels, I also teach him about the shapes of the wheels.
Javier car
Hahaha... Not sure why he make this expression, really comical and 'ugly'!

Things that start with C

After introducing each items to him, he will play with it for a while. He even told me to smile and say 'cheze' cos he wanna take a picture of him. Such a sweet boy.
I show him the pictures of the containers and told him to take some containers from the kitchen cabinet. And he really went to take this 2 containers for me. He talk to open and close the containers, he can reapeatly do it for half hour. I guess now he knows about big and small, he will put the bigger car in the big container and put the smaller cars into the small containers. Initially, I was wondering why he keep putting the green car into the big container, and why don't he just put all the cars into 1 container. Then I realise he is sorting it by size.
Javier playing with the car. He will turn the knob at the bottom of the car and put it on the floor. The car will move up and down.
Car painting
I painted the car wheels and get Javier to move it across the paper to create a car track. Javier like this activity alot.
Storytime
We read a story of 'The Berenstain bear and the Big Road Race' to end our lesson for today.
Just to sidetrack abit.
Javier took the foam letters from my room and play with it. So i just randomly took letter abc and ask him. Surprisingly, he get it all correct, Initially when he get it corrects, I thought it is just a lucky guess. But when I ask him a few times, he was able to give me the correct answers everytime. So I guess, the activity which I did with him really pays off. Although he seems to be playing during the lesson, but he is also absorbing what I am teaching.

Letter C (Lesson 3)

Our theme for letter C today is caterpillar, most of the things we do is related to caterpillar.
Letter C pasting
I let Javier paste on red pom pom on the 'C' which I have drawn on the construction.
I added in one cat inside the C, but upon Javier special request for me to add in more cats. The C ended up with so many cats.

Counting with caterpillar

For this number caterpillar, I only focus on teaching Javier from 1-5. He like to remove the number and sticking it back again.

Sorting

I teach Javier between big and small

Example of foods and vegetables that start with C

This activity is fun, cos Javier got to touch the real object and also smell it. Instead of just looking at pictures.

My little boy keep hitting the carrot and the corn on the floor. He feel that it is very funny to do it.
I will introduce one things to him at a time and told him to feel and smell it. Next I would ask him to find the cards of the item and put the vegetables on top of it.
Finally, I show him the chocolate flashcard and the bowl of 'chocolates'. I know he will be distracted if I put the chocolates with the other vegetables. Thus I leave it to the last.

Caterpillar craft We paint the egg carton green for the caterpillar body. Mostly is paint by mummy, as Javier is not very keen to do painting today. :(

After the paint dry, I put on the attenna and the eyes for the caterpillar. Both my boys like playing with it. But I feel that it look abit scary and ugly. :(-

Storytime
We read 2 books on caterpillar, namely "The very hungry Caterpillar" and "The crunching Munching Caterpillar. The very hungry caterpillar is Javier favourite book, he like the part where the caterpillar eats alot of different food and got a tummyache. He like to flip to that page and told me the different kinds of things that the caterpillar have eaten. I guess from the countless time that I read that book to him, he had already memories the story... Towards the end of the story, when the caterpillar is inside the cacoon, I would ask him what happen after it???? He will immediately exclaimed " Butterfly"!!!!! haha.. it never fail to make me smile when he say it.

For this book, Jayden like it better. I think it is too wordy for Javier, thus he lose interest halfway thru the story.

Javier really enjoyed the lesson today, bcos he likes Caterpillar!!!!!

Letter B (Lesson 2)

Our 2nd lesson on letter B. Jayden would be joining us for today lesson.
As the boys woke up early today, thus I decided to have the lesson in the morning instead of our usual afternoon after Javier came back from school.

Pasting stickers on 'C' & Cat activity

I print the activity sheet from here
The boys pasting the stickers.
Our finished work
Cat Craft
I print the cat craft from here.
The big fat orange cat
Cat Mask
Javier colouring on the paper plate.
Looking at the completed mask.
Opps.. Seems like the mask is abit too big for Javier and Jayden face!!!!

Counting
I make this counting card using a cat stamper.
Javier like this counting chart alot, might be because he likes cat alot.

Snack
Since we are onto cat theme today, I was thinking of making cat face sandwich for the boys. For the face and ear, I use plain bread and apply some peanut butter, 2 chocolates for the eyes and 4 gummies for the whiskers. Its a hit with the boys. Jayden like the cat sandwich alot and wanted me to make some for him to bring to school as snack. Whereas for Javier, he is only interested in the chocolate and gummies.

Storytime
We read the book " Have you seen my cat" by Eric Carle. It is a very simple book but the illustration is very colourful which captivate the kids greatly.
