I’m right now in Tokyo, but my 2 boys are not here with me…The weather is quite cold, but still bearable at night. And do stay tune, I will upload loads of pictures of my trip when I get back next week! Winking smile

An evening in JB Jusco

It is just a normal evening with no plan to any destination, and so we decided to pop by to our nearest neighbor JB for a short shopping trip and dinner.

Run run run to the….Singapore Zooooooo

My boys miss the zoo since our last visit in December, which is consider a very long time for them.

Homeschooling Week 31st and 32nd

This is a long overdue post on our “Good Night Gorilla'” Lapbook activity. The reason I did this lapbook with Javier is that he loves this book so much. Although this is a simple story with few words, but it has great room for discussion.

Homeschooling Week 34th

Since it is Lunar New Year now, I would like to do some simple Lunar New Year related activities with him. I got the idea of this activity from this site.

Javier’s 1st School Excursion 2011

excursion

Javier would be going for his 1st school excursion today to “The Vision Care Hub”. Earlier when I asked him whether he is looking forward to it, he was still whining and said he wants mummy to go also! :( So I explained to him that only little children and teachers can go for this excursion, he seems to accept my explanation and went to the bedroom to drink his milk.

The objective of this visit is to reach out to the community to increase awareness and promote primary eye-care as an important aspect of primary health care, where the children would be educated on the importance of exercising personal responsibility in maintaining good eye-health, including going for regular eye examinations.

I think it would be quite difficult to get him to wake up so early in the morning at 6.45am, since he normally wake up at 10am. Let’s hope he would be cooperative and excited enough to not fuss when I wake him and change him in a few hours time.

Javier’s Reading

I have recently started the Peter and Jane series reading with Javier. I try to match Javier’s pace with regards to this activity as I don’t want to overwhelm him and kill his interest in it. Since I started reading with him for about 3 weeks (I tried to read with him daily, but on days that he doesn’t want to read, I will just stop and try again on the next day), I am glad to see progress in his word recognition. He can recognise word like is, in, a, Peter, Jane, shop, dog and has in book 1a.

This is the cover of book 1a

Javier’s New found Love????

keke… worried not!!!! Javier is not secretly admiring any cutie… :P His new love now is none other but this Safari Puzzle which he got for his birthday. He loves doing it over and over again every single day since the day he laid hands on it. My little boy has been a puzzle lover since he was very young, perhaps he is influence by Jayden who has the same interest in puzzle when he was younger.

Although Jayden still do puzzle occasionally, but his love for puzzle has diminished quite abit. With his love for other toys like Bayblade, Ben 10 or phone game, online game, this is not surprising at all…

A Glimpse at Jayden K2 spelling

I am getting quite lazy…. to update on Jayden’s school work. Since lunar new year is almost over, and I am having some free time.. it is time to type up my backdated post. :P

For Jayden, he doesn’t give me much problem in his hope kindy school work beside writing the Chinese characters which he would miss a stroke or wrong sequence of stroke.

Well, for the spelling, it is not a problem for him (perhaps his strong phonics background helps alot), but 听写 is a teeny bit of problem for him.  And another thing is that I noticed that his handwriting has improved so much as compared to last time. :)

Annoying Ants Problem

The ants problem in our house is giving us headache for the past few years and we really couldn’t find any way to solve it. Recently, it has gotten really bad where we find the ants laying eggs inside the cabinet, hot water flask (can you believe it…. they chosen to lay eggs there!!!!), water drainage hole….. It seems to be their fertile period now, once we cleared a nest, they would be busy looking for another place to lay their eggs which we managed to spot quite quickly.

Well, I hope someone would give me a solution to end this ants problem soon! They are really driving me crazy.

A Super tough week

The past 1 week was a really difficult one for us. Last Wednesday, Javier suddenly developed a very high fever of 39.9 degree in the middle of the night when he awoken a told me he got a tummy ache. When I was massaging his tummy, I noticed extreme hotness and quickly take his temperature, and was shock to discover he was running such high fever. So I give him Brufen to bring down the temperature, but he was the least cooperative, he was shouting, hiding from me and covering his mouth, and just refuse to take it. Finally with the help of D, we managed to feed him. Sad smile

The next day I brought him to see the doctor, as his temperature is still very high after taking the medicine.  He was in such a sorry state with the constant tearing, mucus flowing down and drooling, it really pained us to see him like that.

大年初三 ---- 吃吃吃!!!!

Today my in-laws invited their relatives to their place for a new year gathering.

大年初二 --- 恭喜恭喜

More house visiting today, frankly I don’t like meeting up with relatives that are not so close. It feels kinda awkward just smiling and nodding at each other with nothing to talk about.

But our first destination today is to my brother’s place again, of course we are looking forward and happy to go. Javier just gotten a scolding by me, thus he was not in the mood to take any pictures. He was holding on to a Elmo stuffed toy, wanting to show it to Glenda who has an Elmo also.

Reunion Dinner at Long Beach East Coast Parkway

We had a very late dinner at 9pm at Long Beach Seafood….of course we were really famished by now. But at least my boys had already taken their dinner, so we were not so anxious as to when the food can be served. We started with luo hei for prosperity and good luck for the coming year!!!!

Reunion Lunch @ Neo Garden Restaurant

Well… though this is really an old fashioned way of saying.. but I still have to say it here. :P Today marks the ending of a year and the arrival of a brand new year and most of the Chinese family take this opportunity to get togather to have a meal with our very close family members. :D

I do look forward to this day year after year!!!

After getting my boys dressed up, we were ready to set off to our destination. But before that I snapped some pictures of my boys.

Books that Javier Read - December

These are the books that we read for December. We love the 2 books by Eric Carle and Buster’s zoo. I borrowed books about Christmas to discuss with the boys, beside that, we did a lapbook on “The Snowy day” for our Christmas activity which I will blog about it in another post.

Sembawang Shopping Centre

We need to do a last minute shopping at Giant Supermarket before the Eve of new year, thus we decided to pop by at SSC. It’s had been quite some time that we bring my boys to this playground at SSC, no wonder they were so excited when D brought them here.

Books that Jayden read -December

This is a way way overdue post which I had been too lazy to post. These are the books that Jayden had read in December. Recently I had gotten some feedback from his enrichment teacher that Jayden is performing not so well in listening and interpreting story plot. Perhaps from what his teacher suggest, I should read more books to him instead of getting him to read to me (I do read to him, but not as diligently as before…. after he can read quite well).
