Since it is Lunar New Year now, I would like to do some simple Lunar New Year related activities with him. I got the idea of this activity from this site.
I Google some related pictures and prepared some Chinese words label and borrowed 2 New Year related story books from the library.
While going through the picture cards and word labels, I would get Javier to find the things in the house and match it to the cards.
He was looking intently at the cards and keep pointing to the cards and asking me questions.
Javier was standing on the chairs looking down at the cards.
At the same time we discuss about hong bao and the notes. (how to differentiate the note’s amount)
We did 3 crafts, 福,春 panting and lanterns making.
Hanging at the window for it to dry.
Initially I only wanted to let Javier do the 福 painting, but he was so into this craft, he wanted to do another painting, so I pasted the 春 and let him paint also. Next he even took some tape and paste on a empty paper himself and do the painting.
This is the painting initiated by Javier himself. He loves painting and messy crafts.. by the end of the craft session, his shirt and hands is full of paints. (Luckily it can be washed off quite easily)
We did a lantern craft. This craft is rather simple as it only involves cutting.
This is the lantern done by Javier. After completing the lantern, he couldn't wait to hang on the ying liu flower.
After the paint dry, we peeled off the tape and revealed 福 and 春.
I pasted all the materials on this paper after the lesson.
These are the 2 books which I borrowed from the library. Although these 2 books are not a hit with Javier, but he is fascinated by the 舞狮 picture in the books. He even imitate how a 舞狮 danced and he keep making the ‘ dong dong qiang’ sound as in 舞狮 performance. :)
We even discussed about the 舞狮 performance. He still remembers where the saw the performance, and he told me 舞狮 ‘eat’ hong bao and vegetables…. :P
We have great fun doing this activity.
wow! The furst pic is so nice! How you manage to do it?
ReplyDeleteSunflower, it is very simple.
ReplyDeleteI used photoscape to edit this picture. First you click 1) filter, follow by 2) Pictorialization, then 3) coloured pencil.
