Books that Jayden read - May

This month, Jayden read quite a number of book on Thomas the Tank Engine and Mr Men Series Book. Most of the books are chosen by himself, except for 2 books (My Garden and The Cat in The Hat).

Thomas and the Shooting Star by W. Awdry and Tommy Stubbs
The story tells about Thomas can't fall asleep on this particular night so Gordon sees an opportunity to tease Thomas after they see a shooting star. Gordon tells Thomas that if he finds the star, the star will tell him how to fall asleep. So Thomas goes off in search of the star.

The illustration is great and the story is nicely written. Both the boys likes this book alot. Javier likes to flip through the book and look at the pictures. This is the 2nd time we borrowed this book. But for the previous time, I read the story to Jayden. Now he is able to read it himself, I think he would enjoy the story more.

Thomas and the Great Discovery by R. Schuyler Hooke
One fine day after a hard day work, Thomas decided to take a shortcut and this lead to the discovering of an old track that long ago fell into disuse. As the track becomes more and more overgrown, Thomas thinks he must be lost, until he pulls into a forgotten town that has been abandoned for fifty years....

We like this book.. it is so beautifully written with such great pictures. I would highly recommend it to any Thomas Fan.

The Special Delivery by Random House (Author)
An urgent package has arrived at the docks, and the engines want to get it to Sir Topham Hatt as soon as possible! Who will deliver the urgent package to Sir Topham Hatt? What is this mysterious package that has arrived on the Island of Sodor? The ending have a funny touch that makes the reader laugh!!!

This book was bought long ago, I have read this book to Jayden many times. But this is the 1st time he took the book and read it himself.

Dunkin' Duncan (Story based on the Thomas Tv Series)
The story is about a impatient Engine Duncan. His impatient lead to his carlessness as he was trying to show the othe tank engine "how useful he is" eventually this landed him in the muddy mine pond, making him feel so foolish!!!

My Garden by Kevin Henkes
While I was browsing for books in the library, this book caught my attention. I really likes Kevin Henkes books!!! When I saw this book, I just have to get this book and let Jayden read. However, Jayden was not really keen to read. He only read it once and discard it aside.

It's a very sweet book with very simple both in text and illustrations, it is about a lovely walk through a little girl's imaginary garden, complete with giant tomatoes, chocolate bunnies (instead of the troublesome lettuce-stealing ones), jelly bean bushes, and pink-and-purple plaid sunflowers.

The Cat in The Hat by Dr Suess
A small boy, is left home on a rainy day with his sister Sally. But their boring day is interrupted by the Cat in the Hat, a weirdly anthropomorphic, talking feline who proceeds to turn their house into a chaotic playground.

This book really will help children learn to read with his simple and often single-vowel vocabulary.

Mr Men Series Book

Mr Tickle by Roger Hargreaves
Mr Small by Roger Hargreaves
Mr Brave by Roger Hargreaves
