What is the time?

I emphasize alot of time learning for these few days as I realised that Jayden is not very good at it. At the same time, I also teach Javier how to read time like 8 o’clock… 9 o’clock…. etc. (Showing him that when the ‘long hand aka minute hand is at 12 and the short hand aka hr hand is at 2.. it is 2 o’clock.) As only hr is involved, Javier got the hang of it quite fast.

Books Read in April - Javier

AprilThese are some of the books which had gotten Javier interest. Did you realise that all the books are related to animals. In fact, he will be busy digging for books with giraffe, hippo, elephant, tiger book cover whenever he go to the library.

Odd or Even

Today I introduced odd and even to the boys. I think Javier wasn’t interested at all, he was busy peeling the stickers, and couldn’t wait to do the activity. As what I have written on the paper. Firstly, I wrote 5 numbers and draw the numbers of dots equivalent to it. So I explained to them that ‘even number’ would always go in a pair, while ‘odd numbers’ would always left the last dot with ‘no friend’.

Books read in April - Jayden

AprilIt’s been some time since I last update on the books we read. We are still reading, but just that I don’t have much time to update here. Nevertheless, I managed to do a post on  some of the books which we read and my boys enjoy.

Javier riding bicycle at 39 months

It's been some time since I bring him to ride the bicycle. I’m quite surprised that he can ride very well now.

Never had I witness such a big crowd in Singapore.. maybe perhaps during National Day parade……It wasn’t only the the stadium gallery, even the field was filled up with people…. we got to squeeze our way into the stadium!

My last PV Assignment

This is supposingly my last PV assignment as I have successfully clocked my 40hrs after this assignment. Yipppeeee… :) I have enjoyed myself alot; bringing the kids to excursion, and getting to know mummies and daddies, chatting with them and some of the teachers.

My last assignment is a very long one which started at 7.30am and ends at 6.00pm. The first half of the assignment was assisting the P3 students in Science Experiment. And the second half of the assignment was a hot, fun day at the Marina Barrage.

Hundred Chart Maths Puzzle

I make this simple maths puzzle for Jayden. But I think it was too simple for him, but it is a good practice for kids learning 1-100.

Update on I-creative lesson

For Jayden’s i-creative lesson, he is progressing on to creative writing. The teacher would give them a few words, and they are required to come up with a few short sentences using those helping words. I have also noticed that the Jayden’s drawing is much better compared to a few months ago. He has included more details in his drawing, and doesn’t need us to help him much in his drawing work now.

Writing with Left Hand

I was goggling online for some homeschooling ideas and activities when I came across this articles on writing with Left Hand…. I thought it might be useful to post it here to share with any mummy whose kids is a lefty.

The differences between writing with the left hand and the right hand
As you know, in English and most western languages, we read and write from left to right.

If you are right-handed, you begin on the left-side of a page and write, moving your hand from left to right. As you proceed you can see what you have written and your hand moves mostly in a pulling motion across the page.

However, if you use your left hand (try this), as you write from left to right, your left hand tends to move over and cover the words that you have already written, so that you can’t read them! If you are writing with ink that can smudge, this is an added problem. Your left hand moves across the page in a pushing motion.

In order to be able to see more easily what they are writing, many left-handed children, raise their wrist towards the top of the page, into a hooked position, so that their hand does not cover their writing. This is NOT the best way for a left-hander to write.

Letter Blending activity ar, at, am, as

I prepared some letter cards to teach Javier letter blending. He got the idea after showing him a few times. I will say out the word slowly.. for example c-a-t and get him to form the word for me.

Maths Game II

This is another of our Maths counting activity at home. For this activity, Javier need to spot the missing numbers and paste in the missing number’s stickers. Surprisingly, he enjoys this activity alot. But I find this stickers is too small for his small finger to handle.

Maths counting Game I

I got this game idea from a mummy blog, but couldn’t remember clearly where I got it from. I think this is a good activity for reinforcing the rote counting from 1 to 100 as well as number recognition. I would do only 10 numbers for each counting activity, unless Javier ask more more.

This is all that are needed for this activity.

Pre-writing skill

I find that these activity books which can easily be found in Popular, eg: like kumon… are good when I don’t have enough time to prepare the homeschooling materials with Javier. I can just whipped it out anytime and we are ready for some pre-writing activity. And Luckily for me…. Javier likes doing it. :D

I think at this stage, I would be exposing Javier to alot of pre-writing activity.

The JJ Brothers

I heart his picture that was taken in the zoo today.

Escape to the Theme Park ^^

It was a long weekend…. Yeah.. And of course we need to make good use of it. So we decided to bring the boys to the Outdoor theme park at Downtown East.

When we reached Downtown East, it was already almost 11am, thus we decided to have our lunch first before heading to the theme park.

For a Marine Experience for the K2 kids. Jayden was so excited and looking forward to it… that he kept reminding us to wake him up early on the day of his excursion! :D

The programs for this visit is

  • Discover the Hunting Habits of Sea creatures
  • Exhibits of Poisonous Fish
  • Exploring Sea-Shore Habitat
  • At the Touch pool

He benefitted much from this trip, and couldn’t wait to share with me the things he learnt there today when I came home. :) Just that he was complaining to me why he is unable to go for LongKang Fishing and only the Nursery Kids are able to. :P

Teck Seng Restaurant @ JB

It was a nice and affordable dinner we had in Johor Bahru. Business were very good with alot of patronage who are Singaporeans. Luckily we did not have to wait long although the place was quite crowded when we reached there.

Japanese Cotton CheeseCake

I love to eat Japanese cotton cheesecake, and since a few months ago after chancing the recipe at a friend’s blog… I have been wanting to try making one.

A hot hot afternoon at Tanjong Beach

This trip was decided a few weeks ago. And today was such a good weather to miss the chance to hit the beach. Recently, my boys has developed such a huge love for water playing.

We reached there at 11.00pm and it was such a sunny sunny day, and I was a shade darker after today’s trip to the beach. :(  (I am already quite tan to begin with, if we would to go to the beach more often, I bet I am going to become a charcoal soon! :(

They began with some some playing. The boys were busy with their digging and sand playing while D and me enjoyed our quiet time for lunch.

Yellow belt now…..

He got his new yellow belt today and he was so excited! He dashed into the house wanting to show me his new belt upon returning from his taekwondo lesson. :D

Tokyo Trip – Day 7

Today is our last day in Japan, as tomorrow morning we would taking the morning flight back to Singapore. We enjoyed ourselves alot in this trip, but at the same time I missed my boys!

The agenda for today is Glibli Museum, Mitaka. It may seems new to your if I just mention the museum name to you, but I am sure most of us would knows TOTORO aka 龙猫.

Located in Mitaka, just outside of central Tokyo, the museum is a must-see for fans of the films. The museum itself is whimsically designed in the distinct style of the studio's films, and many of their famous characters are there, including a life-sized robot from Castle in the Sky on the rooftop garden.

Jayden’s Drawing

This drawing  was one of the many pieces that Jayden has been drawing at home. He tends to mix a teeny bit of alien into each of his drawing. It is always so interesting to hear what he says when I ask him about what he is drawing. He draw a ship that can travel in the water as well as land. Sea animals that have a antenna on their body… the red machine in the left corner can transform the sea animals into alien (That’s what he told me… kekeke…) Birds flying in the sky that got lights on their body.

Javier reading Peter and Jane book 1b

It was not easy taking video of Javier reading this book. But well, today he is in a very good mood, and quite cooperative to read it. And when I told him I will take video of him reading, he says “ok!”

Currently we are doing a revision of the words learnt in book 1a by reading book 1b. I tried to make it a routine for him to read 3 pages on alternate day.

Astons Specialties @ Sembawang Shopping Centre

I have been wanting to dine in here for quite some time. But the very long queue which requires the wait for about 45mins was really too much for us, and I decided to give it a miss. And moreover my boys doesn’t like  western food.. :(

Today since D and me is on leave, we decided to pop down to SSC for lunch after sending the boys to school. And course, we were determine to try this out since there were no queue!!!!

Taekwondo White Belt Grading

For Taekwondo, to proceed to the the next level, it is required to take a grading test to determine whether they are eligible for it. And I was really excited because Jayden is going for his 1st grading test today.

Our fun moments in Sembawang Shopping Centre!!!!

We promised the boys we would bring them to some place fun after Jayden’s I-creative class today. Javier had wanted to go the zoo again when I asked him where he wants to go. But the sudden rain lead us to change our plan. So instead, we brought them to Yishun library to borrow some books follow by going to Sembawang Shopping Centre for some water play as we need to do some grocery shopping there.
