Swimming Lesson (Learning Flip)

Currently, he is learning different type of flip. It is not an easy one…  I could see that he was about to tear when he started learning this, but I am glad to see that he preserve and did not give up.

 

Picnic.. Sand… Water @ Palawan Beach

After we went to see the Flower Exhibition a few days back, we promised Javier that we will bring them to the beach soon. Since today is a kinda good day, we decided to fulfill our promise to them.

I’m 4 today!!!

We decided to get another birthday cake since Jayden miss Javier’s school celebration today, as he was a tat disappointed.

Javier celebrate his Birthday in School

Today is the first day of school after CNY, Javier sure have a reason to be excited about it. That is because he will be celebrating his birthday in Edelweiss for the first time with his classmates. When we arrived, we were greeted by his English teacher, who was a friendly lady who chatted with me while we waited for the class to come for the cake cutting.

While we were there, we peeped and looked for Javier in the music room . The children were singing wonderful song with the principal, Mrs Tang  playing the paino. Lastly, Javier was asked to stand in front of all the children and a sweet little birthday card was presented to him by his teacher, followed by a birthday song sang to him by all the kids in the school which ended with a “Happy Birthday Javier”. Its so sweet!!!

春节花会 Sentosa Flowers 2012

Since D isn’t working today and Javier only starts school tomorrow, we decided to make a trip to the Sentosa Flowers this afternoon and of course Jayden wasn’t able to go with us as he needs to attend school today.
 

Javier’s 4th Birthday Mini Celebration

It was an ad-hoc decision to celebrate Javier’s birthday today. A last minute birthday cake was bought, of course Javier was the one who choose (his uncle brought him to the nearby mall to buy the cake).

CNY House Visit Continue…

More house visit follows; we went to D’s godmother place, my brother place follow by D’s sister place and this end our house visit for today. Since school starts tomorrow, we end our wonderful moment after the Javier’s mini cake caking celebration at D’s sister house and head for home.

Javier make a new friend today with this sweet little girl, Sierra. The both of them will playing so well togather and enjoying themselves so much!
 

大年初二

Today will be another busy day for us, but I think the boys didn’t mind one bit, in fact they are enjoying the New Year so much!!!! Since we are still early, I decided to have my 2 monkeys pose or me. As you can see clearly from the below pictures, their favorite activity at the moment is plucking the pussy willows, I think judging by the speed that they pluck it out each day, soon the plants will be bare!!!!  

大年初一

It was a busy day for us going to various place for house visiting. But I think the boys were definitely having a fun time hopping from places to places; with toys to play and yummy treats which they couldn’t stop stuffing into their mouth. And its wasn’t a surprise to us that they were quite reluctant to go home at the end of the day.

Reunion Dinner with in-laws family

Another 2 round of feasting today whereby one is the reunion dinner with my in-laws family.

My Reunion Dinner

In the older days, we would gather for a feast one day before the start of the Lunar New Year, however, this practice is not really practice in Singapore anymore. In order not to stuff our poor tummy with so much sinful food in a day, we decided to have the reunion dinner on 2 separate days instead. And I just had our reunion dinner with my family a short while ago. Reunion dinner is a meal which I really look forward every year. Sitting down together enjoying the meal with my family and looking forward to a brand new year which will be approaching soon!!!!

Pre New Year Celebration in School

The boys were looking forward to the New Year Celebration in school today, despite that Jayden have to wake up at 6.10am for his school bus. The dress code for today is red, it really add a festive mood to see them dressed like that.

Just an update on Javier reading progress. Since Chinese New Year is just around the corner, we read the book on 过新年。

Javier’s Airplanes

He loves creating stuffs using his lego pieces! Whenever he is free, he would sit in a corner building his vehicles. At the moment, his craze is building airplane, thus he would give me a surprise with his new creation everyday!

Buffet Dinner @ Orchard Cafe

We bought a good bargain from Big Deal way back in November and only managed to utilize it today. Actually we weren’t planning to bring our boys along, in order to enjoy a peaceful meal. But after much consideration, we thought it is much more better to bring them along instead of getting my in-laws to babysit them for us. And I am glad that we make the right choice… the boys were excited to see the great variety of pastries for them to eat as much as possible. Hah… (at least that was what Javier was telling us)

Due to fact that I was busy gobbling the nice, yummy food and at the same time shouting for the boys to behave themselves, I did not take any pictures of our food, that is beside my favorite food which is none other than this!  Durian Pangat!!!! Though there are a great variety of pastries to choose from, but to us, its still the spotlight among all the pastries, I think I had a total of 3 servings.  

Swimming Lesson

Due to the rainy weather and festive period for the past 2 months, Jayden had missed quite a number of lessons. Thus he totally lost the momentum in his swimming, and the worst part is that he wanted to stop his swimming class and was super reluctant to go for his swim class for the past 2 weeks. So I was glad to see that he is slowly back to his old self and gaining more confidence in his swimming today. (No more a teary boy telling us that that he don’t want to swim anymore)

QianHu Fish Farm

D wanted to get something from QianHu and thus we made a trip down there after Jayden ICL class. While D shop for his things, we walked around looking at the different fishes. And the boys were pestering me to buy some fishes for them.

For our 四五快读 reading, we have started this reading exercise to improve Javier’s reading concentration span.  A series of words are repeated throughout the 8 rows for the kid to read. Normally I would spilt it into 2 or 3 sessions. In order to read through these words, the kid got to really concentrate. As the words are repeated so frequently, sometimes Javier would need to pause at certain words to think before he can read it.  Especially when it comes to 米 and 来, sometimes he got abit mixed up as these 2 words look quite similar.

Update: Reading Peter & Jane Book 4B

Just an update on the reading of Peter and Jane series. Currently Javier is reading book 4b and he do enjoy reading it. 

Bento #53 Koala Bento

(Consists of Koala made up of bun with Oreo biscuits, seaweed with cheese for eyes and marshmallows for ears, hotdog, apples and gummy and 旺旺 biscuits for snacks. )

This is the cute bear lunch box which I got from Daiso yesterday, couldn’t wait for use it for the Bento today. Even Javier exclaimed that it is cute. For today, I had wanted to make a Bear but ended up it look more like a Koala. Well, my boy sure doesn’t mind one bit, he was busy peeling off the mouth, eyes and ears when he saw it.

Berries: 小一精英班

As I had mentioned earlier, we were contemplating whether to let Jayden continue his Berries class this year. The reason being that the timing is very rush for him, given that he reached home at 6.50 or 6.55pm and his class starts at 7.30pm. Thus after considering the pro and cons, we decided to let him continue for this term and see how it goes. Judging from the past 2 weeks, I would say that though it can be quite rush, but we managed quite well. He can still shower and have his dinner before we rush him to his lesson, reaching there punctually.  

Jayden started his Berries class last Thursday and he was glad to see most of the same friends from last year. And he was double-ly glad to see the new boy who joined their class today, it was none other than his super good buddy from Hope kindy. The both of them were grinning from ear to ear when they hopped out of the classroom after the lesson!
 

Bento #52 Beary Bento

Its been a long break since the last time I prepare Bento for my boys. Actually I had wanted to prepare for Jayden to bring for his school recess but my offer was rejected by my boy. He told me he prefer to buy the food from the canteen himself. 

Thus to start my engine going again, I started making a really simple bento for Javier only. He was pretty excited to see a Bento after such a long time.

Chinese learning materials

Today, I went to Bukit Panjang Plaza after dropping Jayden for his Icreative class. And happen to saw that Learn thru play is having sales. A lot of items are selling at a really attractive price. After browsing thru, I decided to get these 2 items for my boys.

This set wasn’t on sales but I find that it this quite suitable for Jayden. (but the kind saleslady gave me the member price which is 10 percent off).

读书郎 is the series after “我会读”, but these series is targeted for more advance reader. There is a total of 6 sets in this series. The first set is more on science, on the topic of caterpillar and butterfly, earthworm, seahorse, lizard, fox, cow…. At the end of the story, there is a list of questions for him to answer too. Besides that, there is a list of “生词表”and all these 生词 and 生字 have hanyu pinyin and meaning (in english) for reference.
 

Into P1 Journey Day 2….

Today Jayden is already into his day 2 of his primary school life…. so far he is coping well. Ironically, it is my son who told me not to worry too much. I guess my boy is already grown up, he told me not to go to his school today and see him ‘eat’. Hah… I think he feels embarrassed seeing me standing there monitoring his movement. But being the kiasu mummy, I still want to make use of the last opportunity to see my boy, making sure that he is really ok and surviving in his school.

Jayden entering into P1

He is starting his P1 today. In a totally new school, new friends, new teachers, new environment and most importantly learning to be real independent. I know in time to come, he will be fine but I just can’t stop myself from worrying… I guess he does feel nervous and at the same time looking forward to his Primary school. He is one boy who doesn’t display his feeling easily but would keep to himself. It is not easy to get him to openly discussed his feeling and thinking with us. But from what I observed him during Recess time, I know he do feel insecure and a sense of lossness today.

Javier First Day of School 2012

Though we (especially the boys) enjoy the school holiday a lot, but having to face the boys 24hrs every day for 1 month plus is driving me crazy. They seems to fight most of the time!!!! So I am partially glad that the school holiday is finally over and the boys will be starting their school today.

Though he was still having a little unhappiness the previous day about school reopening, he was super excited when he woke up this morning! He had his lunch, shower and put on his shoe readily and hopping happily downstairs to take his school bus. And he was greeted by the bubbly girlfriend Tiffany when he board the bus. Yeah.. definitely a great start!!!!!
 

A brand New Year!!!!

To start our brand new year, we have a steamboat dinner today. I really enjoy having steamboat with my family, cooking the stuffs togather and chit chatting while we eat. I guess my boys also have a fun time dumping the ingredients in!!!
