Javier 1yo Birthday Celebration

Yipppeee, finally my little darling javier would be turning 1 year old on 26 jan 2009. As it was quite near to the Lunar New Year, we decided to celebrated his birthday 17 jan 2009. I have been trying to source for a really special cake for his celebration. As he is still too young to choose the design, so we leave this big task to his gorgor... hehe.. and a farmyard theme was chosen for his birthday celebration.

Reading

I was really clueless on how to teach my son how to read, until i came upon this blog-Tamarind Village. This mommy give a really detail on how to teach a child to read.

So firstly, I went to popular to buy the books - key words with ladybird (Peter and Jane Series) Than off i started my reading with my son. I would spend about 20 mins a day with him on the reading.

I started book 1a on 06 july 09, he finished the book by 16 july 09. He is now reading book 1b, as it uses all the exact word as book 1a, but only that the story is different. He is able to read by himself with minimal guidance. I was really encourage by his progress.

Jayden learning to write his name

Recently i started to teach my elder son (who is coming to 4yo in Oct) to write his own name. I was a really lazy mommy, didn't put really much effort to coaching my son in his study. But now i really feel that i should buck up!!!! :(

His First try in writing his own name, its a really good effort.
After practice writing his name for a few time, he can write quite well.

A trip to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden

Having heard from some of the mummies of this interesting place, i was really exicited to bring my kids there. Jacob Ballas Children's Garden is Asia's first children's garden. Dedicated to all children of Singapore, it is designed to provide unique discovery and learning experiences in a garden setting.

There is a Fantastic Forest which has a tree house with 2 slides, a magic of photosynthesis display, sand play and water play area. Be sure to pack a change of clothes for your kids.

 Me and my boy

Although the weather is really very warm, but both my kids have a really fun and enjoyable time.
