Beside his homework, normally I would spend sometime doing some assessment book with him. I find that this book who focus on the high frequency words is quite good, in terms of teaching the child to learn Chinese. Through this, Jayden learnt many new characters.
Every chapter, there would be a few sections. The first part would be introducing 4 new words, follow by sentence reading.
The 2nd part would be introducing the stroke and pasting of the correct words in the box.The 3rd part would be identifying the correct words. The 4th part is a scenario where the child have to think and match.In a 总复习, there would be a passage for reading. This is to summarize the words that have been taught for this term (The book is separate into 4 学段)After reading the passage, there is a tear and paste activity which is related to the passage which is read.
For the English learning, few months ago, I have started Jayden on the English Comprehension.
Firstly, he got to read this short story and on the next page, there would be a few questions for him to answer. Jayden likes doing the comprehension book. Whenever he sees the assessment book, that would be the one he chose to do first. (but being the mean mummy, I always like him to do this one last! :P I like him to start with the chinese book as he hates doing chinese. :(
